I am a qualified veterinary surgeon with a passion for zoo and wildlife medicine. Before undertaking the residency, I worked with a number of different zoological collections and conservation projects worldwide.

As the veterinary resident, I am working towards a diploma from the European College of Zoological Medicine as well as caring for the 35,000 animals we have on site. With such diversity of species, each day is very varied. The residency is a fantastic opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and skills in the field of zoo medicine as well as getting involved with some of the amazing conservation efforts of the zoo.

Within this role, I am also involved with research. I am currently working on a project looking into thyroid disease in captive Eastern bongo (Tragelaphus eurycerus isaaci). Only 70-80 individuals remain in the wild so the captive population is very important to ensure the survival of the species. This project aims to get a better understanding of a common condition to try ensure the good health of the population.
