ASDA

Deforestation is the second leading cause of climate change and accounts for 11% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Chester Zoo’s goal is to help solve these conservation challenges through wider sector transformation. Working with partners in industry, such as Asda, and other NGOs, we collaborate to develop realistic and objective strategies to improve criteria for sustainability related to imported deforestation. Chester Zoo’s work, with the help of the ASDA partnership will further reforestation and habitat connectivity in the area, working with smallholders and plantation companies to create biodiversity corridors, working with local communities to create sustainable long-term solutions for the survival of orangutans.
