Special event 25/03/2017

Watercolour Workshop

Saturday 25 March, 10-4pm

This amazing art workshop will be run by professional wildlife artist Kerry Newell and will focus on local flora and fauna (flowers and birds in particular).

Kerry introduces us to the creative adventure of learning to paint native species in watercolour (the easy way). This workshop day will cater for all abilities even complete beginners.

You'll be pleasantly surprised at what can be achieved even if you've never drawn or painted before, plus you'll have a unique piece of art to take home with you at the end of the day.

  • A brief discussion of the day's species and why they were chosen
  • An introduction to specific materials including paper types, paints, brushes and watercolour mediums
  • An uncomplicated & quick method for applying the initial drawing (ideal for beginners)
  • An overview of the processes and techniques that will be used throughout the day including methods such as working wet on wet, wet on dry, detailing etc

Rest assured that each step of the workshop will be explained and demonstrated, with participants being given time to practise and utilise each technique before moving on to the next. Time will also be allocated for those looking for a little extra guidance and encouragement where needed.
