Art for Apes Winners Announced

  • Orangutans
  • Conservation in the zoo

One of the main aims for the 2011 EAZA Ape Campaign has been to raise awareness of the plight of wild apes.

To help achieve this target Chester Zoo’s Conservation team enlisted the help of Becca Biddle the zoo’s Safari Ranger to help run ‘Art for Apes’, a competition for school children to design a picture that represented the threats facing apes and how we can help them. The zoo received lots of entries and winners were chosen by our very own ape experts, our primate keepers.

Big congratulations go out to the three winners; Isla Beech from Waverton Community Primary School, Cerys Lousie Smith from Brookside Primary School and Laura Taylor from South Wirral High School. Scroll down to see their fantastic winning entries.
