Our Projects in the UK & Europe

Conservation is as important at home in the UK and Europe as it is across the world. In fact, British wildlife faces many of the same serious threats that cause extinctions elsewhere, including pollution, habitat loss, invasive species and climate change.

Almost all UK wildlife is declining. 72% of British butterfly species have decreased since 2000. One in five of our wildflowers is threatened with extinction. UK habitat has also changed dramatically - our ancient woodlands now cover only 2% of the UK.

We've a range of conservation projects in the UK securing the future for animals, plants and habitats, and we work alongside many conservation partner organisations. Our key priority areas are species reintroduction and research, habitat restoration and protection, and promoting appreciation and interest in nature through empowering local communities. Our role as a key conservation organisation in the region is critical in establishing, maintaining and successfully delivering partnership projects to save our native species.
