National Conservation Education Awards
At Chester Zoo, we recognise those who go above and beyond to educate the next generation about conservation.
Each year, we celebrate conservation success with our National Conservation Education Awards, celebrating excellence across the whole education sector.
We are now accepting nominations for 2025!
If your staff member, team or school achieved something special during the past couple of years, we want to hear about it! These awards are a fantastic way to celebrate your achievements with colleagues, boost morale and gain wider recognition for your hard work and successes. Read more to find out how to enter.
Recognising excellence in conservation education
There are three main award categories, with separate awards for primary and secondary schools. The categories are:
Outstanding Conservation Educator
This award recognises members of staff who find innovative ways to teach conservation to help pupils understand more about the world around them and take conservation action. We look for educators who’ve made children excited about saving the world.
Outstanding Conservation School
This award recognises a school that has sparked a passion for wildlife and conservation in their pupils. Have you been working with the local community to create a culture of conservation? Do all your children love coming to school? Have you changed your curriculum to put the conservation of nature and our planet at its heart? We look for schools who inspire this love of nature in their learners.
Outstanding Conservation Initiative
Do you know of an innovative project or initiative that has helped pupils understand more about the world around them or work together to achieve conservation action? This award recognises the incredible conservation initiatives that schools have developed.
