Join us for an interactive online lesson exploring how conservation is helping to prevent extinction of species all over the world and here at the zoo.
From mighty mammals to tiny insects, species around the world are under threat - but there’s hope. In this exciting live session, your class will discover the key reasons why animals become endangered and how conservationists at Chester Zoo are working every day to protect wildlife and wild places across the globe.
Through real-life stories, animal footage and interactive activities, pupils will:
England (KS2)
● Focuses on Science (living things, habitats, classification, adaptation, evolution) and Geography
(human & physical geography, land use, economic activity, place knowledge).
Scotland (CfE Second Level: P5-P7)
● Emphasises Science (classifying living things, ecosystems, topical science) and Social Studies
(environmental impact, responsible living).
Wales (KS2)
● Highlights Science (communication, interdependence of organisms, food chains, sustainable
earth) and Geography (understanding places, environmental change, global citizenship).
Northern Ireland (The World Around Us: KS2)
● Concentrates on Interdependence (living things relying on each other, people and
environment), Place (effects of events on a place), Movement & Energy (causes and
consequences of movement), and Change Over Time (global changes, active contribution)
Together, we’ll uncover how Chester Zoo’s mission to prevent extinction is protecting species, restoring habitats, and creating a future where wildlife thrives, and how you can help too!
