Everything you need to know about Keeper for a Day
We’re one of the only zoos in the UK that offers a one-to-one personal keeper day working with an animal section of your choice. You can choose from a range of different animal sections to look after, including some of the world’s most endangered species.
Booking in advance is required as spaces are very limited.
- Mammal Keeper for a Day experiences - £350
- Reptile & Aquarium Keeper for a Day experiences - £285
- Bird Keeper for a day - £285
Bookings and payments must be taken over the phone. The day begins at 8am and finishes at 5pm with tea breaks and lunch included. You’ll also get a signed certificate in a presentation pack and a gift to remember your special day.
- Participants must be physically fit and able to walk several kilometres around the zoo at pace, able to climb several flights of stairs and walk over uneven ground without difficulty.
- Suitable for ages 18 and over.
- Regrettably certain guests will be unable to take part including people with epilepsy; relevant phobias or known allergies; mobility issues; pregnant women and immunocompromised individuals.
- Whilst every effort is made to accommodate those with a disability or learning difficulty, due to practicality and health and safety this cannot always be achieved.

All our animal teams are working hard to care for each and every species across the zoo - choose a team you'd like to shadow the for the day and get involved in all their daily activities.
Meet the carnivores, including lions, tigers, cheetahs, jaguars, bush dogs, sun bears, giant otters and more!
Orangutans, Chimpanzees, Spider Monkeys, Sulawesi macaques, Mandrills, Lemurs, Marmosets and Tamarins to name just a few!
Meet small mammals including Rodrigues bats, Seba's bats, giant anteater, tree kangaroo, capybara, Visayan warty pigs and meerkats.
Our majestic herd of Rothchild's giraffe, camels, okapi, red river hogs, babirusa, Southern pudu, Congo buffalo and onager.
Some of the largest mammals! Including black rhino, greater one-horned rhino, banteng, anoa, sitatunga and roan antelope.
Work with our fantastic herd of Asian elephants!
Join our early birds from 7am-4pm! Including flamingos, hornbills, ibis, starlings, weavers, waterfowl, cranes and owls.
Join our early birds from 7am-4pm! Including penguins, macaws, cassowaries, curassow, free-flight passerines and cockatoos.
Amazing Komodo dragons, frogs, tortoises, lizards, snakes, amphibians, fresh water, marine fish & butterflies.
