This activity introduces young people to the role of a zoo conservation educator. Learners discover how educators write and deliver animal talks, workshops, and activities to help visitors understand where animals live, what they eat, how they behave, the threats they face, and how people can help protect them. Using step by step guidance, the activity supports pupils to research an animal of their choice and plan a short, engaging talk with a clear introduction, main section, and conclusion.

The resource also highlights how communication plays a vital role in conservation by encouraging learners to link their chosen species to real Chester Zoo campaigns such as Sustainable Palm Oil, Illegal Wildlife Trade, and Wildlife Connections. With example fact files and prompts, pupils are supported to build confidence in public speaking, research skills, and conservation storytelling. The activity offers insight into an important zoo career while empowering young people to inspire others to care about wildlife.
