Take on the 5,000km Challenge and help protect tigers

This autumn, we're inviting you to Earn Your Stripes and be part of an exciting fundraising challenge supporting Chester Zoo's tiger conservation work. Funds raised will support both our critically endangered Sumatran tigers at the zoo and our global conservation efforts through the Terai Tiger Project.

Why 5,000km?

The Terai landscape stretches across almost 5,000km², providing a vital home for tigers and other wildlife. However, only around 1,800km² is currently protected, leaving much of this important habitat vulnerable.

That's why we're challenging supporters to work together and collectively cover 5,000km – which has been inspired by the Terai landscape.

Every kilometre logged helps tell the story of this incredible habitat and raises funds to support efforts that protect wildlife, reduce human-wildlife conflict and empower local communities to become champions of conservation.

How to get involved

From 29 September to 29 October, take on the challenge, log your movement, and help us reach our collective 5,000km goal. Every step, stride, cycle or swim counts. You can even automatically report your movement by connecting your fundraising page to Strava.

Challenge yourself to go the extra mile and fundraise along the way. By asking your network to sponsor your efforts, you'll help us reach our £10,000 goal and support vital care and conservation work for tigers.

Sign up, get moving, start fundraising, and help create a brighter future for tigers.

The impact of your fundraising

With your support, our goal is to raise £10,000 to help provide vital care for tigers, safeguard their future, and ensure this magnificent species thrives for generations to come.

Every pound makes a difference:

  • £100

Could fund educational resources for a conservation workshop in a rural school in India.

  • £200

Could provide essential patrolling boots for primary response teams.

  • £500

Could fund an additional camera trap to monitor tigers in the wild.

  • £1,000

Could help protect vulnerable households from tiger and leopard attacks.

  • Exclusive rewards

As a thank you for your support, everyone who fundraises £50 or more will receive an exclusive Earn your Stripes pin badge, while those who raise £100 or more will also receive a tiger plush.
