We love having BIG groups of visitors enjoying a fun day out. And we welcome nearly two million national and international visitors every year!

Our travel trade information is perfect for people organising LARGE groups of visitors to the zoo such as: coach tour operators, travel agents, tourism partners and business tourism partners. We also accommodate those who’ve booked through third-party organisations.

We are proud to work alongside accommodation providers and other attractions in the area, and more than happy to help you tailor your group booking to make your day extra special.

All visitors to the zoo can enjoy FREE parking, complimentary with your ticket! We have designated coach parking and minibus parking areas on-site to facilitate your transport and organisation of your group.

International visits

We love having international visitors from all over the globe! We were awarded the Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award Winner for 2019! There’s always something new to see and do at Chester Zoo, so be sure to come and visit us on your travels.

Additional requirements

If your registered coach or company group has group needs or requirements, you may need a familiarisation visit. Once your group has been booked and paid for, you are able to book a familiarisation visit, including a risk assessment, for up to two visitors. Pre-book your familiarisation visit by contacting the team at groups@chesterzoo.org.

Ticket agents

If you’re an accommodation business, transport provider or tourist information centre and can sell between 50 and 500 tickets per year then you can access our ticket agent portal and receive 15% off our expected price at the gate on the day! The prices change in line with our own flexible pricing calendar, so you can guarantee you’ll always be offered a minimum of a 15% discount. You can either take the 15% as a commission and sell the tickets at our gate price, or pass the discount on to your guests. Pretty nifty, right?

(N.B. Please note that your clients will need to be given a barcoded confirmation page in order to access the zoo).

If you’d like to join us please fill out our agreement and send it to groups@chesterzoo.org.

Food and drink

When booking for a large group, we know how important it is to plan for lunch and regularly snacks!

If you’re bringing your own picnic, we’ve lots of lovely seating areas around the zoo. In the summer, the best place is near the red pandas, in the shade of Oakfield lawn. Manado Town, in Islands, is another relaxing spot for a picnic!

If you’re looking to book a venue for a special group event, consider fine-dining at The Oakfield, our beautifully restored Grade-II listed building, right at the very heart of the zoo. The Oakfield can cater for any event, for any group size. Please note, to help play our part in keeping everyone safe, all visitors must pre-book to visit The Oakfield.

We also have lots of restaurants and cafés around the zoo, serving lots of different hot and cold options, as well as plenty of kiosks selling snacks, drinks and ice creams.

VIP EXPERIENCE

Are you looking for something a little more exclusive?
For an unforgettable VIP experience, we can offer a personalised afternoon tour of the zoo, followed by a private fine-dining meal at The Oakfield. To find out more, contact our Events team on 01244 380 280.

Half-day highlights

If your group has limited time but wants to pack as much into your visit to the North-West as possible, then we’re delighted to offer a designated 2-hour visit, which includes either a guided tour or a self-led tour of the key highlights of the zoo! If you want to include a spot to relax in your time with us at the zoo, you can add lunch or afternoon tea, as a quick refresher before you move on to another attraction in Chester or further afield.
