We love having big groups of visitors on a fun day out. Chester Zoo welcomes almost two million national and international visitors every year (after all, we are the most-visited wildlife attraction in the whole of the UK!)
We’ve put together this clever little guide to help our travel trade partners when planning their group trips to Chester Zoo.
Our travel trade information is perfect for people organising large groups of visitors to the Zoo, including accommodating people who’ve booked through third-party organisations, like:
- Coach Tour Operators
- Travel agents
- Tourism partners
- Business tourism partners
If you’re organising large party bookings, please see below for our guide to all things ‘group’! Chester Zoo are also proud to work alongside accommodation providers and other attractions in the area, and are happy to help you tailor your group booking to combine with these other options.
Group Price Guide
When you book a group of 15 or more paying visitors, you’ll get 30% off our average expected price at the gate on the day! We’ll also give you a seasonal pricing calendar so you’ll always know the price you’ll pay, in accordance with the peak seasons listed below:
1 January – 26 March Shoulder
27 March – 18 April Peak
19 April – 28 May Shoulder
29 May – 6 June Peak
7 June – 25 June Shoulder
26 June – 21 July Peak
22 July – 5 September Premium
6 Sept – 19 September Peak
20 Sept – 31 Dec Shoulder
If you are an accommodation business, transport provider or tourist information centre and can sell between 50 and 500 tickets per year then you can access our ticket agent portal and receive 15% off our expected price at the gate on the day! The prices change in line with our own flexible pricing calendar, so you can guarantee you’ll always be offered a minimum of a 15% discount. You can either take the 15% as a commission and sell the tickets at our gate price, or pass the discount on to your guests. Pretty nifty, right?
(N.B. Please note that your clients will need to be given a barcoded confirmation page in order to access the zoo).
If you’re already an agent you can log into the portal here.
If you are an accommodation business, transport provider or tourist information centre and can sell more than 500 tickets per year then you will be given special access to our ticket agent portal and receive 30% off our expected price at the gate on the day. The prices change in line with our flexible pricing calendar, so you can guarantee that you’ll always be offered a minimum of a 30% discount!
You can either take the whole 30% as commission, or sell for our ‘discounted retail price’ of 15% off the standard price on the day, whichever suits you best. Alternatively, you can use the tickets to present as a completed package alongside accommodation, travel and other attractions.
Though we have lots of other great things to do, we know that you’re probably visiting us to see our animals! You might want to take a look at all the animals we have here at the zoo, so that you can plan your itinerary around our exciting exhibits.
No matter whether you’re most interested in amazing amphibians, stars of the sky or remarkable reptiles, you can choose which of our attractions you’d like to pay a visit to, and create your bespoke itinerary around the animals your group would most like to see.
Food And Drink
When booking for a large group, we know you’ll need to plan time for a snack!
If you’re bringing your own picnic, we have lots of lovely picnic areas around the zoo. In the summer, the best place is near the Red Pandas, in the shade of Oakfield lawn. Another sheltered area perfect for a picnic is in Manado Town, in Islands.
If you’re looking to book a venue for a special group event, consider our fine-dining option at The Oakfield, Chester Zoo’s beautifully-restored Grade-II listed building, at the heart of the site. With Christmas options available to book now, The Oakfield can cater for any event, whether it’s a corporate party or an intimate family meal. Please note, to help play our part in keeping everyone safe, all visitors must pre-book to visit the Oakfield.
We also have lots of restaurants and cafés around the zoo, serving lots of different hot and cold options, as well as plenty of kiosks selling snacks, drinks and ice creams.
Are you looking for something a little more exclusive?
For that ultimate VIP experience, Chester Zoo can offer a personalised afternoon tour of the zoo, followed by a private dining experience. This fine-dining experience will encompass your exclusive visit to The Oakfield, our beautiful Grade-II listed building at the heart of the zoo.
