Discover the amazing animals that call Chester Zoo home
The native Iban people regard the rhinoceros hornbill (known as Kenyalang) as the king of the worldly birds.
Orangutans are amongst the most intelligent animals on the planet. At Chester Zoo we have both Bornean and Sumatran orangutans.
Sunda gharials have weak leg muscles, so they can't lift their bodies off the ground, but they can slide on their bellies!
Sun bears are excellent climbers and spend considerable time in trees. They feed on sweet fruits, small rodents, birds and insects.
Known as "the Slithering Giant of Asia", these pythons are the longest snakes in the world.
