As part of the Conservation Training Academy, join our science staff for an introduction to how we use behaviour and welfare science in the zoo.

This introductory course will look at how we use science to help us manage our animal collections, reintroductions and prevent extinction worldwide.

We’ll look at the range of sampling techniques which can be applied in different scenarios. Our scientists will introduce technology they are use to aid their behavioural observations and how this can utilised alongside live observations.

There will be an introduction to basic data management and data manipulation in excel to help you analyse your behavioural observation data.

This is an introductory course, with further courses planned to have zoo based practical work. The expectation is that this course would have been completed before higher-level courses in behaviour and welfare science could be completed with us.
