Habitats are SO important to animals and our Gardens Team are crucial in providing the perfect habitats for all the animals here at the zoo.

Plants make the perfect home… Join our Gardens Team for their annual Nursery Open Day as they share how we maintain the zoo’s garden areas to provide habitats that support wildlife at the zoo.

Not only will our nursery greenhouses will be open for the public to look around, but you’ll also have the opportunity to explore our more exotic plants including our National Plant Collections of cacti, orchids and nepenthes. Learn about these exotic and endangered plants which are being propogated at the zoo to prevent their extinction.

Meet our Zoo Keepers and expert Horticulturalists as they explain the importance of planting in our habitats for our snakes, frogs and butterflies!

Learn about the different plant species that can be found here and how you can choose garden plants and flowers that are an important food source for wildlife, massively important for pollinators and used for animal enrichment and habitats.

The team will be on hand to talk about our enrichment garden, which is used an insect habitat as well as a source of organic goodies for birds and other animals.
