Are you 14-17 years old and thinking of a career in the zoo or would like to learn what skills you need for a career in conservation?

Join our zoo rangers for a full day in the zoo with some hands-on experience of what it’s like to work here. Our animal and plant teams in the zoo have a busy day with lots of habitats to maintain and animals to care for, so expect the day to be quite physical and fast paced.

A typical Young Zoo Keeper Careers Day may look like this (schedules are subject to change):

8:30am: Arrival
8:30 – 9am: Introductions and kit up
9am – 10am: Elephant husbandry routine
10:15am – 10:45am: Careers session and Q&A
11am – 11:45am: Introduction to horticulture
12pm – 12:45pm: Animal enrichment making
1pm – 1:30pm: Lunch
1:45pm – 2:45pm: Mucking out habitats
3pm- 3:45pm: Visit to amphibian pods

Who is it for?
Young people aged 14 – 17 years.

What is included?
A day of activities relating to the zookeeping and careers.
A Certificate of Completion to show your budding conservationist has acquired the skills and knowledge they need!
Lunch is not included.
