The Tropical Realm, one of the very first of its kind was completed in 1964, which coincided with the zoo’s 30th birthday of being a charity. In the same year, the Zoo__s Founder Director, George Mottershead, was made an honorary citizen of Dallas, Texas in recognition of his work in conservation.
