Madagascar is one of the world’s hotspots for threatened biodiversity. Of the 117 species of terrestrial species described, almost 50% are listed on the IUCN Red List as Critically Endangered, Endangered or Vulnerable. In 2006 European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) launched its Madagascar Campaign with the aim of raising awareness for one of the most important nature reserves in the world, raise funds for conservation projects and promote the importance of biodiversity through the unique fauna and flora found on Madagascar. We were one of 171 member institutions that participated in the campaign. To support the EAZA campaign we auctioned a zoo lemur experience on eBay to raise vital funds.
