The myriad of islands that make up the region known as Southeast Asia to this day remain home to some of the most biodiverse habitat in the world. Rich rainforest ecosystems, made further diverse by frequent variation in altitude and readily available coastline allow life to thrive here.

All of this is despite the marring of this natural world by human activity over the last century, where rainforest has commonly been replaced with monocultures of various crops from horizon to horizon.
