Living more sustainably

Love it for Longer: We are so proud of the steps we have already taken to reach our sustainability goals and look forward to sharing our achievements. Whether you are planning to visit the zoo or creating a project at school, we’ve created these activities to help your pupils learn about sustainability.

Reducing waste:

One of the biggest environmental impacts on our planet is the amount of packaging we use and the amount of waste we produce. Have a look at our, “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” resource. Get to grips with how waste needs to be sorted so we can pick out what can be recycled.

Approximately two million pieces of litter are dropped in the UK every day and it is thought that most of the plastics found littering the ocean actually come from on land. Explore how long it takes everyday items to break down with our eye opening “decomposition resource.”

We are very proud of the steps we’ve taken so far towards reaching our sustainability targets. You can learn all about this in our comprehension task, “Protecting the Environment”

Now time to have a look at, “How much do we throw away?” Take stock of the waste produced at school or at home.

The best thing we can do is to collectively reduce our impact and the amount of waste we produce, but whose responsibility is it? Our “Plastics debate” is the perfect conversation starter to discuss the issue with students. Perfect for an assembly or class debate.

Finally, if we can’t reuse or reduce it, why not recycle it – have a go and making a plant pot out of an old bottle. This will be a perfect way of seeing how much water your plants need in, “How to make a bottle plant pot”
